First impressions of Brother Aveneer

I've been sewing for 18 years and throughout this time I've sewn with countless machines - from beginner and vintage ones, to advanced computerized and industrial ones. But the machine I'll show in this post has some of the features I've never seen or used before.
In this post, I'm partnering with Brother to share my first impressions of Brother Aveneer sewing and embroidery machine.

Brother Aveneer is an advance computerized sewing and embroidery machines that comes with lots of interesting and unique features. After testing it, here are some of the features that stood out to me the most (click below to watch video overview or scroll down to read):
Feature No. 1: projector

Perhaps the most exciting feature of Brother Aveneer is a large projector. Using this feature, you can project different stitches and embroidery designs on your fabric to preview how it will look in finished project, or project various guidelines (straight, circular or angled) to perfect fabric and stitch alignment.

Feature No. 2: camera

To be completely honest, when I first learned that Brother Aveneer has an installed camera, I was a bit confused, as to why a sewing machine needs one. After testing this feature, I was very surprised how useful it is.
With installed camera, you can preview your stitches or embroidery design on your exact fabric/project, and easily decide on size, placement or thread color before stitching it out. When I'm doing decorative projects, imagining how finished result will look like is usually the hard part for me, so this feature turned out to be a huge help.

Feature No. 3: large size

The most obvious feature of Brother Aveener is its size - everything about this machine is large.
It has an impressive 358mm longarm (distance from needle to right of the machine) which allows to easily feed any size project or quilt through the machine. Aveneer weight about 27kg, which adds a lot of stability and comfort when sewing.
The largest hoop available in Aveneer allows for huge 465 x 297mm embroidery area.
The machine also comes with Edge-to-edge stitch function (where you can stitch out continuous quilt designs on any size fabric) - this function combined with large machine size and huge hoop essentially allows you to use this machine as a long arm machine for quilting.

Feature No. 4: dual feed presser foot

Speaking of quilts, Brother Aveneer comes with Dual feed presser foot, which allows to easily sew thick, multi-layer fabrics without any shifting. This presser foot plugs into machine and moves top layer of the fabric with a help of a belt, allowing to fine-tune feed speed depending on your exact project.
Feature No. 5: embroidery and stitch designs

Brother Aveneer comes with over 1800 embroidery designs, including edge-to-edge stitch quilting, couching, 3d lace, applique and long-stitch designs. It also has ability to turn any photo or picture into an embroidery files, so you can create your own custom designs without any additional software. And if you sew for kids, they will definitely love one of 200+ Disney embroidery designs!
Feature No. 6: ease of use
While the machine is highly advanced and has some of the features I've never used before, it was surprisingly very easy to use: there's a detailed manual, that you can view on screen; large touch screen makes using different machine function rather intuitive and machine show helpful instructions when using more complex tasks, like Edge-to-edge stitch. Even with functions I've never used before, I was able to successfully complete them with a help of the machine, which goes to show how easy this machine is to use.
Other features
While these were the features that stood out to me during first impressions testing, it has tons of more features that make this machine unique. You can learn more about Brother Aveneer machine here.
